Opinions

Abortion: I am pro-choice. While I might not feel that it's right to end pregnancies for arbitrary reasons, I think that it is a personal decision that everyone should be able to make for themselves. I don't think it's right to force women to have children, and  birth control is not 100% effective 100% of the time. I do think that people who don't want children and are having sex should use birth control, and it's incredibly stupid if they don't, but it's not right for me to tell them that now they have to take on this huge responsibility. If someone doesn't even know how to use birth control, do we really want them breeding_ And yes, I realize it's somewhat hypocritical to be pro-choice and anti-death penalty (depending on your view of fetuses), but I feel very strongly about it, and I don't really care if it's logical or not.

Death Penalty: I am against the death penalty because I think it is hypocritical. It sends the message that killing is ok if you're the government, but not if you aren't. If a society does not condone killing, they should not condone it in any form. Just because a person deserves to die (and yeah, I think mass murderers and rapists deserve to die) does not mean that anyone has the right to kill them. And what kind of sick depraved person would want to kill someone_ Or watch them die for that matter_

Gay Marriage: Yep, I'm for it. The government has no right to regulate such personal matters, and who are we to tell someone that they can't get married_ The bill of rights guarantees the right to the pursuit of happiness, yet it's ok to tell someone, no you can't get married_ What kind of demented logic is this_ Imagine yourself in some alternate universe where heterosexual marriages weren't allowed because it was deemed unnatural by the religious community. Ridiculously unfair, isn't it_

War: Well, I am against killing, so I think war is bad. I don't think people should go around looking for wars to start when they aren't being attacked. I'm not saying that there should be one big huge alliance with all the countries, because that is really unrealistic, but it doesn't mean that we should go around killing each other.

Assisted Suicide: I think people have the right to die if they have a terminal illness, or if they just want to. I think suicide is incredibly stupid, but if you're in constant pain and you can't take care of yourself and you're  going to die anyway, and you're so debilitated that you can't kill yourself, what's so wrong with asking for help_ I do realize there are possibilities for doctors and insurance companies to just kill people because it costs to much to keep them alive, but I believe there are ways to prevent this if it's regulated. Like, have the person (or their guardian/family member) sign a consent form and have witnesses verifying that they wanted to die.

Legalizing Marijuana: I think that marijuana should be legalized, but with regulations, like you can't drive after you've smoked it, and you have to be 18. Alcohol is legal, and people act really stupid on it, so why not pot_ Personally I think it's a much better way of relaxing after a stressful day than getting drunk, and you aren't as affected the next day. Just because it is an addictive substance doesn't mean it should be so criminalized. Nicotine, alcohol, and caffeine are also addictive and potentially if not definitely harmful drugs, and caffeine isn't even regulated at all! Anyone can walk into a store and buy caffeine pills, which are really bad to get addicted to, and I think the government and people are just being ridiculous.

Prostitution: I don't think prostitution is morally wrong. And I think it should be legalized. People in relationships who frequent prostitutes are the ones who should be punished, not the person trying to make a living.

Sex Ed: The sex education system in this country is horrible. My brother knows at least 4 girls who got pregnant in the last 6 months, and they are 15-18. While I do think 15 year olds are too young to have sex, I know that they are going to and they should be able to make an informed choice about birth control, and have access to it. Yes, I think condom vending machines should be in high school bathrooms, or at least in the nurse's office. Abstinence-only sex education is horrible and obviously ineffective. I think it's ridiculous that people think that if their kids don't know about birth control, they won't have sex. Most high school students who don't have sex have other reasons for it, such as religious beliefs or that they just don't want to, not because they don't have access to birth control.
